Lone bidder offers $751K for ice ferry Susitna, which cost $80M

(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) — A single bid for $751,000 was received for the icebreaking ferry Susitna, which is worth $80 million, Alaska Public Radio reported. A Matanuska-Susitna Borough official said the bid came from the Dutch company Workships Contractors BV. The borough said it is still considering giving the boat away to a government entity in the U.S., and the offer has drawn interest from California's Los Angeles County and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
