(KITTERY, Maine) — The landing ship dock USS Carter Hall will transport a deactivated submarine from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, the newspaper Foster’s Daily Democrat reported. The sub NR-1 will be loaded onto a barge, and the Carter Hall will lower its well deck and place the barge and sub inside the ship. Tugboats will assist in the loading.
