Laker, Coast Guard vessels trapped in ice near Duluth

(DULUTH, Minn.) — A laker sailing out of Superior, Wis., and two Coast Guard vessels became stuck in ice near Duluth, McClatchy News Service reported. The 826-foot Lee A. Tregurtha was empty and on its way to Two Harbors when it became icebound. Coast Guard cutters Alder and Alpena responded and also became trapped, and other Coast Guard vessels were on the way.
