Inspector general says EPA should get tougher on ship pollution

(WASHINGTON) — The Environmental Protection Agency’s inspector general says the agency should crack down on air pollution from ships, the Los Angeles Times reported. A report from the inspector general says the EPA has not been responsive to a call to regulate vessels’ emissions more aggressively. The agency has failed, for example, to get tough on pollution from foreign-flagged ships and to notify Congress of any shortcomings in the battle against shipborne toxins.
