(SAN DIEGO) — General Dynamics NASSCO plans to lay off as many as 1,150 employees, the San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper reported. The job cuts represent about a quarter of the San Diego shipyard’s work force. The company blamed the cost-cutting on a “sustained downturn” in demand from commercial and government customers.
