(CAMAS, Wash.) — On Sept. 26, Furuno wrapped up an unprecedented week of learning and dealer engagement during the 2020 NMEA Virtual Education Week by bringing home five NMEA Product of Excellence awards. This brings Furuno’s total to an 235 NMEA Awards, more than any other two manufacturers combined.
Rather than holding an in-person conference, the NMEA’s 2020 Virtual Education Week brought together marine professionals from around the nation in a virtual environment. The industry’s leading manufacturers presented information via Webinars and direct engagement to participating NMEA members who comprise the voting body for these prestigious annual awards.
In the Radar category, Furuno’s DRS4DNXT once again took home the top honor. The DRS4DNXT is a solid-state Doppler rRadar in a compact 24-inch radome, featuring innovative Furuno technologies such as Target Analyzer and Fast Target Tracking. The DRS4DNXT is the first Furuno radar to utilize their exclusive RezBoost Beam Sharpening, providing a detailed radar image with more targets and less clutter.
Furuno’s ground-breaking DFF3D was again awarded the highly-coveted Product of Excellence award for fish finders. This is the third year in a row the DFF3D has taken home this award, following the breakout 2017 “Technology Award” win. The DFF3D takes fish finding to new depths, with a 120-degree view from port to starboard, showing fish depth, location under the boat and the direction fish are moving, as well as displaying the seabed condition in real-time. The SCX20 satellite compass was recognized as the top contender in the category for best NMEA2000 sensor. The radar also includes a refined antenna and gearbox.
