(DULUTH, Minn.) — The U.S. Coast Guard says an oceangoing freighter that has been anchored off Duluth for nearly two weeks is being investigated for possible environmental violations, the Duluth News Tribune reported. M/V Cornelia and crew "do not pose a public safety threat. Speculation that the ship is held in port due to any safety concerns (is) false," the Coast Guard said in a statement. The 575-foot saltie is managed by the German company MST and is registered in Liberia. The Coast Guard said it will not release additional information while the investigation is underway.
