Ferry connection to Calif. military base ends service (PHOTO)

(SAN DIEGO) — Citing security concerns, the Navy has shut down a free ferry service that transported commuters to the North Island Naval Air Station on Coronado, the Los Angeles Times reported. The move also will save money because the base won’t have to fund the tugboat that moves security barriers twice a day. About 130 people used the ferry Cabrillo, which was subsidized by the state.
