Maersk, Crowley consider alternatives after Haiti port damaged

(PORT AU PRINCE, Haiti) — Haiti’s main port is not operational in the aftermath of this week’s earthquake, the Wall Street Journal reported. The main dock is partially submerged, and maritime operators including Maersk Line and Crowley are awaiting an alternative method of unloading vessels. One possibility is to lighter cargo onto a barge at sea.
