Feds drop pollution charges against bulk carrier in Maine

(PORTLAND, Maine) — The U.S. Department of Justice has dropped pollution charges against a Cyprus-flagged bulk carrier that had been held at Eastport, Maine, the Bangor Daily News reported. The Margit Gorthon was accused of discharging oily waste at sea and falsifying a log book. After holding the crew as witnesses, the government dropped the charges without explanation.
