Dredge sinks in Erie Canal; salvage crew pumps water out (VIDEO)

(PALMYRA, N.Y.) — A 290-ton dredge sank in the Erie Canal, television station WHEC of Rochester reported. A crew of 40 workers has been pumping water out of the 100-foot vessel. The state canal corporation says the plan is to plug and holes and then escort it 13 miles to Lyon’s Drydock.
