Cruise ship scheduled for voyage through Northwest Passage

(LOS ANGELES) — Crystal Cruises plans to take advantage of shrinking Arctic sea ice by sending one of its ships through the Northwest Passage in August 2016, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported. Crystal Serenity, which can carry 1,000 passengers, "will be doing its best to be an ice avoider, which really we don't think will be terribly difficult," a company official said. The first bulk carrier to make the transit did so last year.
