(SAN FRANCISCO) — The pilot who lost his merchant mariner's license after the Cosco Busan casualty in 2007 is suing the Coast Guard to get his credentials back, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The pilot's lawyer says the pilot wants to sail again, and his license was revoked on the basis of allegations that were never proven. The pilot was taking as many as 19 medications when the containership crashed into a bridge tower, but his lawyer says the Coast Guard never established that the medicines were a factor in the accident.
