(NEW ORLEANS) — New rules requiring regular towing vessel inspections are expected to be announced next year, the Times-Picayune newspaper reported. An American Waterways Operators official pointed out that it is a major regulatory change. Before the new rules on mandatory inspections take effect, the Coast Guard is promising to conduct more and more voluntary inspections.
