(NEW ORLEANS) — The Coast Guard medevaced a man 10 miles south of the Chandeleur Islands, Saturday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at 6:03 a.m., that a 50-year-old male, aboard the barge Boaz, was reportedly suffering from a cardiac condition. The Boaz transferred the man to a nearby platform.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans launched an MH-65D Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew to the scene at 6:30 a.m. to assist. The crew hoisted the patient and a paramedic off of the platform and transported them to Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans, where he was transferred to awaiting emergency medical services.
The patient's condition was unknown.
