(MIAMI) — In a first for the industry, Celebrity Cruises has announced that an American woman will take the helm of a cruise ship, Cruise Industry News reported. Kate McCue, a California Maritime Academy graduate, will command Celebrity Summit beginning in August. The company said it elevated McCue to captain based on her 15 years of successful experience and leadership in the maritime industry.
