Passengers injured when tour boat strikes N.C. pier

(CAROLINA BEACH, N.C.) — A tour boat on an evening cruise struck a pier Friday night, injuring some of the 159 passengers on board, the Port City Daily reported. The 120-foot Royal Winner Princess II was cruising in the Intracoastal Waterway near Snow’s Cut at about 2120 hours when the boat hit a pier at the N.C. Wildlife boat ramp. The captain reported to the U.S. Coast Guard that the boat temporarily lost steering due to an equipment failure.
