Caustic-soda barge capsizes after collision

(DESTREHAN, La.) — A barge carrying caustic soda capsized Tuesday in the Mississippi River near Destrehan after two barge tows collided, The Times-Picayune reported. The accident, the latest in a string due to unusually high water, prompted the U.S. Coast Guard to close the river between mile markers 126 and 131. A Coast Guard spokesman said there was no immediate report of pollution.
