Cap Blanc overloaded with cargo when it sank, investigator says

(ARGENTIA, Newfoundland) — The cargo ship Cap Blanc was overloaded the day it capsized and sank off Newfoundland, according to a French maritime investigator, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported. All four crewmen were killed in the accident while the ship was transporting road salt to St.-Pierre-Miquelon in December. The heavy load meant Cap Blanc was sitting too low in the water for the winter conditions, the investigator said.
