Canadian research ship is first to overwinter, move around in Arctic

(ABOARD CCGS AMUNDSEN) — The Canadian research ship CCGS Amundsen is the first to overwinter in the Arctic while moving positions, the Toronto Star newspaper reported. Amundsen’s crew are using simply solutions including lukewarm water and chainsaws to free the vessel from ice. The ship is south of Banks Island with 40 scientists aboard studying the Arctic climate.
