Canada jury urges stricter regulation of commercial vessels

(MIDLAND, Ontario) — A jury recommends that Transport Canada improve regulation of small commercial vessels, the Free Press newspaper of Midland, Ontario, reported. The case involves the drowning of a workboat crewman near Honey Harbour in 2004. The jurors urge Transport Canada to bolster licensing, safety equipment and inspection requirements for vessel of up to 15 gross tons.
