Bulk carrier floats free after grounding on Newfoundland shoal

(PORT AUX BASQUES, Newfoundland) — A bulk carrier that ran aground Saturday off Rose Blanche floated free Sunday after a change in wind direction, The Telegram reported. The 600-foot John I was en route from Spain to Montreal when it lost power and began drifting parallel to the shoreline. The 23 crewmembers were lifted from the vessel by helicopter.
