Broward College Marine Program receives $50,000 grant from Pantropic Power and Caterpillar

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Broward College announced a $50,000 grant awarded to its Marine Engineering program by Pantropic Power and Caterpillar through the Caterpillar Foundation. Pantropic Power, the only authorized CaterpillarTM Power Systems Dealer in South Florida, made an initial contribution of $25,000. Utilizing the Caterpillar Dealer Excellence Fund program, the contribution was matched for a total contribution of $50,000.

“Broward College is dedicated to student success,” said Broward College Dean of Transportation Programs Anthony Petriello. “Our marine engineering program is committed to producing highly skilled marine technicians capable of comprehending, repairing and maintaining complicated high- tech yacht systems. This grant provides $15,000 for marine student scholarships as well as an allocation for faculty training, diagnostic equipment, engines, trainers and parts. We are very proud that Pantropic Power and CaterpillarTM share our dedication and commitment to students, education and the future of the marine industry.”

Pantropic Power has specialized in electrical power generation systems, rental power, temperature control systems, marine propulsion, on-highway truck engines and agriculture and industrial pumping systems for more than 66 years.

The goal of the CaterpillarTM Dealer Excellence Fund program is to help develop state-of-the-art curriculum and education leading to technical jobs for graduates and ultimately to increase the pool of qualified technicians to meet foreseeable product support needs.
