Bay State delegation pushes for more tug escorts

(BOSTON) — Massachusetts lawmakers have petitioned the U.S. Coast Guard for mandatory tugboat escorts of vessels carrying hazardous materials, including oil, through Buzzards Bay, the Cape Cod Times reported. Regulations currently require escorts for single-hull barges regardless of the conditions, but double-hull barges are not addressed.
