Modernizing the dredge fleet

The 346-by-69-by-23-foot Amelia Island is GLDD’s newest trailing suction hopper dredge. The 16,500-hp vessel has a 6,330-cubic-yard hopper and two 800-millimeter trailing suction pipes capable of dredging to depths of 100 feet.

Battery Steele, the East Coast’s first electrically propelled ferry, will begin service this fall between Portland and Peaks Island, Maine.
