Army Corps: Willamette Locks no longer in operational condition

(WEST LINN, Ore.) — The Army Corps of Engineers says the Willamette Locks are no longer in safe operational condition, the Oregon City News reported. A new engineering report says the gates are experiencing too much internal corrosion. Even commercial traffic will not be able to use the locks, and they may remain a low-priority for Army Corps maintenance dollars.
