(ORANGE BEACH, Ala.) — A barge struck a piling fender on the Foley Beach Express toll bridge Wednesday morning, prompting officials to close the span over the Intracoastal Waterway, AL.com reported. The incident occurred at 0230 hours on the south side of the bridge, which is owned by American Roads LLC. The city administrator said the impact "knocked out" about 60 feet of the fender system.
