(ROTTERDAM, Netherlands) — Alphatron Marine has signed a leasing agreement with Acta Marine for 13 vessels to provide satellite hardware and data solution packages.
Alphatron Marine’s VSAT system including wireless access will be integrated into the IT infrastructure on the Acta Marine fleet of multicats, tugs and shoalbusters, enabling an unlimited data flow for both operations and crew welfare.
The vessels will use Alphatron Marine’s new global iDirect platform. The first installation was done just one week after signing the contract on board Coastal Chariot, just in time before it was heading Chile for a one-year project.
Mark Koenes, ICT manager for Acta Marine, said, “We have been investigating VSAT for a long time. The amount of data we need to send and receive from the vessels has grown rapidly over the past years. Now we can integrate the vessels into our office and planned maintenance systems, giving our ICT department the tools to run the vessels more efficiently. On top of that, we want to offer our crew the possibility to stay in contact with their friends and family whilst at sea. After an extensive evaluation we found that the Alphatron Marine solution suited best to our needs and budget.”
