One missing after towing vessel, skiff collide near Morgan City

The following is the text of a press release issued by the U.S. Coast Guard:
 
(NEW ORLEANS) — The Coast Guard is responding to a report of a missing person following a vessel allision near Morgan City, La., Sunday. Missing is Leonard “Pete” Hue of Assumption Parish, La.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report, at approximately 10 p.m., Saturday, from the crew of the UTV Salvation, that they were involved in an allision with Hue’s 17-foot skiff in the Morgan City-Port Allen Alternate Route.

A 25-foot response boat and crew from Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Morgan City and an MH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans deployed to the scene to search for Hue.

A first-light search was conducted by the crew from MSU Morgan City and the crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans, Sunday.
Also searching is a small boat crew from Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
