(PORTLAND, Ore.) — Zidell notified employees Wednesday it is building its last barge on the city's South Waterfront, The Oregonian reported. The company, which has built barges on the property for 50 years, had indicated previously that it planned to continue for years to come, even as the surrounding area filled with new development. Zidell said its barge business has been declining and it has no plans to resume barge construction at another site.
