(BETHANY BEACH, Del.) — Weeks Marine has sunk an additional 44 old New York City subway cars to add to a large artificial reef off the Delaware coast, the News Journal newspaper of Wilmington reported. The Redbird Reef now consists of a total of 934 cars, plus several decommissioned barges and tugboats. The artificial reef, which enhances fisheries habitat and is popular with divers, is now 1.3 square nm.
