URI research ship headed to Gulf to study oil spill (VIDEO)

(SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I.) — A University of Rhode Island research ship is one its way to the Gulf of Mexico to participate in a scientific study of the oil spill, Providence television station WJAR reported.  The Endeavor will help track the extent of the spill and the amount of oil content in the seawater. Its cargo will include an underwater vehicle from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.
