U.S. court upholds California’s law restricting ship emissions

(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) — A federal appeals court has upheld the state of California’s right to limit emissions from ships along its coastline, the Sacramento Bee newspaper reported. The Pacific Merchant Shipping Association sued in U.S. District Court to have the law overturned, arguing that federal law should govern the issue. The District Court ruled in favor of the state, and now the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has agreed.
