Two Tappan Zee barges break free in storm

(PIERMONT, N.Y.) — Strong winds during Friday’s snowstorm caused two construction barges to break free from the Tappan Zee Bridge construction site, The Journal News reported. No injuries or damage were reported, but one of the barges traveled almost 15 miles down the Hudson River before being recovered. It was the second time in less than four months that barges in the $3.9 billion bridge replacement project have come loose from their moorings.
