(JACKSONVILLE, Fla.) — The tugboat Spike has been sunk in 100 feet of water 25 miles off Mayport to serve as an artificial reef, First Coast News television reported. The Coast Guard cutter Kingfisher assisted in the sinking. The vessel had served recently shoreside as a dormitory for a boys’ reform home.
