Tugboat helps rescue gray fox stranded on Hudson River ice

(ALBANY, N.Y.) — A Hudson River tugboat helped rescue a gray fox that got stranded on a sheet of river ice, the Times-Union newspaper reported. The Kathleen Turecamo transported an animal control officer with a snare to the spot where the animal was trapped, and the boat’s engineer helped create a long pole to stretch the snare to where the fox’s tail was frozen into the ice. The fox’s tail broke free and the animal was cornered while firefighters on an air boat grabbed it.
