Tugboat crew fired after crashing into refinery wharf

(MARTINEZ, Calif.) — The crew of the tug Independence was fired after their employer said the men were drinking alcohol before the vessel crashed into a refinery wharf last week, the television station KCBS reported. AmNav Maritime Services of Oakland said it fired all three crewmen. Two tested positive for alcohol use, and the third refused to be tested, the Coast Guard said.
