Tug sinks near Baltimore after striking submerged object

(BALTIMORE, Md.) — A tugboat sank at a pier near Locust Point after its operator said it struck a submerged object, the Baltimore Sun newspaper reported. Kaleen McAllister sank despite dewatering efforts and assistance from other tugboats, and its crew was able to escape unharmed. The sunken vessel was not blocking navigation channels, but an official said it will need to be cleared from the slip area.
