(SAN FRANCISCO) — The manager of a Bay area tugboat company has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for illegally dumping dredged materials into a delta area, the Contra Costa Times newspaper reported. The executive for Brusco Tug & Barge Inc. had been charged with environmental-law violations over the depositing of dredgings into the water near Pittsburg, Calif. Federal officials said the company had a permit to dump the materials on Winter Island, but the crew cut corners and unlawfully dumped into the water instead.
