Tug captain tows plane to riverbank, says ‘lines were breaking’

(NEW BEDFORD, Mass.) — A Massachusetts tugboat captain who just happened to be in the Hudson River was asked to help tow the downed US Airways plane to the river bank, the Standard-Times of New Bedford, Mass. The captain of the tug Co hadn’t been in the Hudson for three years. The Tucker-Roy Marine Towing and Salvage vessel help ensure that the plane didn’t sink and become a navigational hazard.
