Tug captain: Grounded B.C. cement barge had struck reef: PHOTO

(VICTORIA, British Columbia) — The Lafarge cement barge that ran aground along Vancouver Island had struck a reef, the Victoria News newspaper reported. The captain of the tugboat Inlet Rover said he and his son were paying attention to their job when the barge went out of control and ran up on the beach. The 60-meter barge was stuck for several days.
