(MOBILE, Ala.) — Three members of the Coast Guard’s Gulf Strike Team are assisting with the salvage Wednesday of a motor vessel that took on water in the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway near Mobile, Ala.
The Motor Vessel Captain Jerry Ogeron was towing two barges containing a combined 1,848,000 gallons of crude oil condensate when it took on water at the stern Tuesday, causing a severe list.
The GST members are reviewing the salvage plan with Coast Guard Sector Mobile and will provide salvage operations oversight. A salvage company is en route to the scene.
