Towboat industry wants Louisiana to map pipeline hazards

(NEW ORLEANS) — Inland towboat operators are asking state regulators to thoroughly map subsurface petroleum pipelines, citing an eroding coastline that may be creating more underwater hazards, the Thibodaux Daily Comet reported. A Senate committee passed a bill Thursday that requests Louisiana's Department of Natural Resources to perform a “comprehensive assessment” of all pipelines transporting hazardous liquids or natural gas in the state's coastal zone.
