Towboat hits I-30 bridge fender, briefly closing span

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) — A towboat pushing barges on the Arkansas River struck a protective bumper on the Interstate 30 bridge Thursday, forcing officials to briefly close the span, THV 11 News reported. The bridge reopened after it was inspected and no damage was found. It is the second time in two months that pier protectors on the bridge have been struck by river traffic.
