Towboat crew hailed for ‘Miracle on the Mississippi’ bridge rescue

(QUINCY, Ill.) — A towing vessel crew is being hailed for a dramatic rescue of bridge inspectors who dangled underneath a bridge after their bucket crane malfunctioned, the Hannibal Courier-Post newspaper reported. The Sir-Ene maneuvered under the Quincy Memorial Bridge and lowered the men to safety. Fire and rescue officials are calling it the “Miracle on the Mississippi.”
