Three more El Faro families settle with TOTE

(JACKSONVILLE, Fla.) — Families of three more mariners lost in the sinking of the cargo ship El Faro have reached financial settlements with shipowner TOTE Maritime, the Florida Times-Union reported. According to papers filed Tuesday in federal district court, representatives of Frank Hamm III, James Phillip Porter Jr. and Roosevelt Lazarra Clark each reached settlements of $500,000. Settlements have now been reached with representatives of 21 of the 33 mariners who died when the ship sank on Oct. 1, 2015 in Hurricane Joaquin.
