Terminal operator: Philadelphia port needs deeper dredging

(PHILADELPHIA) — In a guest commentary in the Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper, Holt Logistics President Leo Holt says the Port of Philadelphia needs deeper dredging of the Delaware River to compete for the new generation of larger cargo ships. Holt says the states of Delaware and New Jersey have ulterior motives for opposing the channel dredging. Any harbor that doesn’t have deeper channels will be “backwater ports fighting each other for scraps.”
