Tanker NS Stella runs aground in Delaware River near Salem, N.J.

The following is the text of a press release issued by the U.S. Coast Guard:

 

(SALEM, N.J.) — The Coast Guard is responding Monday to a tanker ship aground in the Delaware River near Salem N.J., outside the main shipping channel near Baker Range.

The Coast Guard received a call at 6:45 a.m. from a crew member aboard the NS Stella, a Liberian flagged tanker, reporting they were soft aground.

A marine investigation team from Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay, Philadelphia, is en route to evaluate if the vessel will re-float at high tide.

There are no injuries or reports of pollution.
