Tanker manager fined $4.9 million in oil dumping case

(NEW HAVEN, Conn.) — A U.S. District Judge in Connecticut sentenced Ionia Management of Greece to a $4.9 million fine for falsifying records and obstruction of justice. In September, the company was convicted of 13 counts of violating the Act to Prevent Pollution from Ships, three counts of falsifying records, one count of obstruction of justice and one count of conspriracy.
