Tanker crewman ‘severely shocked,’ requires medevac off Galveston

The following is the text of a press release issued by the U.S. Coast Guard:

 

(HOUSTON) — The Coast Guard medevaced a 24-year-old male off the tanker SR Wilmington, 12-nautical miles south of Galveston, Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009.

Watchstanders at Sector Houston-Galveston received a call at 4:28 p.m. from the tanker reporting that a crewmember had been severely shocked and required emergency medical attention.

The Coast Guard immediately launched an Air Station Houston MH-65 rescue helicopter crew to medevac the man.

The crewmember was transported to Memorial Hermann hospital in Houston.
